dc.description.abstract Calculations are presented of the compressible turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate. They have been made by a new, general, accurate and economical procedure. The physical inputs chiefly comprise: (1) a form of the mixing-length hypothesis, and (ii) the assumption of a uniform effective Prandtl number. The predictions are compared with available experimental data and empirical correlations; the agreement is satisfactory. It is pointed out that the same method may be expected to give good predictions even in more complex situations. en_US
