dc.description.abstract An optical method utilising a standard schlieren system is used to locate the position of the shock wave surrounding a conical body at a free stream Mach number of 4.0. An analysis of the conditions at the shock wave enable the surface pressure distribution to be calculated. Good agreement with experimental pressure distributions is obtained except in regions dominated by viscous effects. en_US
