dc.description.abstract The analysis of R.A.E. Report No. Aero. 1840 has been extended to cover the lift slope of aerofoils of small aspect ratio and of fins in place upon an aeroplane. The charts of that report for the estimation of lifting characteristics of aerofoil controls have been included in this report with some small modifications, and those necessary for the estimation of fin and rudder lifting characteristics added. In general it is possible to estimate the lift slope of the aerofoils on an aircraft, taking account of interference effects, to within about ± 5 per cent. and control powers to within about ± 10 per cent. en_US
