dc.description.abstract The area-rule, moment of area-rule and transfer-rule methods for estimating the wave drag Of wing-body combinations are discussed. It is pointed out that the moment of area rule and the transfer rule are different forms of the area rule, and that the transfer rule expresses the interference wave drag in a simple form. The existing methods of wave-drag estimation are restricted to combinations with bodies having continuous surface slope andhere an extension to combinations with bodies having discontinuous surface slope is given. This paper is concerned with the theoretical methods and their associated numerical techniques and no numerical results for particular applications are presented. en_US
