dc.description.abstract Measurements in turbulent boundary layers have shown large transverse variations of skin friction. It appears that these are associated with three-dimensional disturbances originating in the transition region. The disturbances cannot be explained by irregularities in the damping screens and cannot be eliminated by fixing transition. en_US
