dc.description.abstract Part I contains a general discussion of handling research, the methods currently employed therein, and some of the difficulties encountered. Part II is a review of recent research into lateral-directional handling problems and the results that this has achieved. From the basis of these results, together with ad hoc data, an attempt is made to synthesise some lateral handling criteria applicable to large aircraft, with particular reference to the handling at low speeds. Because our knowledge of the factors involved remains rather rudimentary (despite the considerable advances made in the last decade), the criteria proposed are somewhat tentative. en_US
