Abstract:
A series of static tests ccnducted to establish an efficient form of flexible skirt for a peripheral Jet type of hovercraft is reported. The importance of designing the peripheral Jet system in conjunction with the skirt is demonstrated. The results suggest that the effective width of a flexible nozzle 1s less than its actual with and the discharge coefficient requires determining experimentally for each configuraticn. It is concluded that skirt confiquration performance is best compared on the basis of power input to a skirt to generate a given cushion pressure fcr a specified daylight clearance.
