Abstract:
Transient pressures have been measured on the upper surface of a narrow delta wing when it passed through newly sharp-edged upward and downward gusts. Some characteristics of the transient behaviour of the vortex flow on the wing have been identified and discussed. It is shown that a gust-induced loss of lift on this kind of wing develops more rapidly than a gust-induced gain of lift, and thus produces the greater change of loading.
